Cute Puppy Skateboarding

Cute Puppy Skateboarding

Cute Puppy Skateboarding

For some natural-born skateboarding dogs, this crude technique works. In other cases you end up with a dog that sometimes rides the skateboard and at other times tries to eat it. Or worse, you get a dog that goes crazy every time he sees the skateboard because he wants to chomp on it like it’s a chew toy. For those who have dogs that don’t naturally know how to get up and ride, here’s a step-by step plan. This simple dog trick starts with teaching the dog to step on objects with the two front feet on cue and progresses to stepping on moving objects such as a skateboard.
Start by Teaching a Simpler Dog Trick Called “Step” with the Two Front Feet

Step 1: Luring
The first stage of training this dog trick consists of teaching Fido to place two front feet on any object that you want. The benefit of this behavior is that you can also use it to teach other tricks such as–shake paws, high five, wave, turn on the lights, or ring the bell.

To start, you’ll need an object that’s elevated several inches off the ground and wide enough so that your dog can’t easily walk around it. Objects I’ve used for a 40-pound dog include a step-aerobics platform, an indo board, several coffee table books placed side by side, and a square, firm doggie bed.

Next lure the dog with treats or kibble so that his front feet are on the object and then give him 5-10 more treats in a row. Then walk away so he gets off and follows you (or toss a treat on the floor so he has to move) and repeat the procedure. Repeat this step until you are able to walk towards the object with him and he steps on without hesitation consistently–meaning 5-10 times in a row–with the food lure.

Stargate Atlantis

Stargate Atlantis

Stargate Atlantis

Stargate Atlantis is a Canadian-American adventure and military science fiction television series and part of MGM’s Stargate franchise. The show was created by Brad Wrightand Robert C. Cooper as a spin-off series of Stargate SG-1, which was created by Wright and Jonathan Glassner and was itself based on the feature film Stargate (1994). All five seasons of Stargate Atlantis were broadcast by The Sci-Fi Channel in the United States and The Movie Network in Canada. The show premiered on July 16, 2004; its final episode aired on January 9, 2009. The series was filmed in and around Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

The story of Stargate Atlantis follows the events of Stargate SG-1’s seventh season finale episode “Lost City” and eighth season premiere episode “New Order”, in which the cast of that series discovered an Antarctic outpost created by the alien race known as the Ancients. In the pilot episode “Rising”, Stargate Command sends an international team to investigate the outpost, where Dr.Daniel Jackson discovers the location of Atlantis, the legendary city created by the Ancients, and Colonel Jack O’Neill visits the outpost after having been put in stasis and retrieved from it.

The series was a ratings success for the Sci Fi Channel, and was particularly popular in Europe and Australia. Although it received little critical response, Stargate Atlantis was honored with numerous awards and award nominations in its five-season run. After Stargate Atlantis was cancelled, the show’s co-creators began working on the already-conceptualized Stargate Universe which the network had approved to have a bigger budget, be less mythology-dependent, and have more focus on character development; Stargate Universe premiered on October 2nd 2009, and was cancelled after two seasons. Merchandise for Stargate Atlantis includes games and toys, print media, and an original audio series. With the cancellation of Stargate Universe, the intended direct to-DVD Stargate Atlantis movie, titled Stargate: Extinction, was also cancelled.

Things that make you go hmmm 2

Beautiful Rose

Things that make you go hmmm 2

Never sacrifice who you are just because someone has a problem with it.

Do not give up. The beginning is always the hardest.

Speak the truth, even if your voice shakes.

We never really grow up. We only know how to act in public.

The happiest people don’t have the best of everything, they just make the best of everything.

When you have to make a hard decision. Flip a coin. Why? Because when the coin is in the air you suddenly know what you’re hoping for.

If you want to make your dreams come true the first thing you have to do is WAKE UP!

Judging a person does not define who they are. It defines who you are.

Sometimes you need to step outside, get some air, and remind yourself of who you are and who you want to be.

Apologizing does not mean you are wrong and the other person is right. It just means you value your relationship more than your ego.

GO at least once a year to a place you have never been before.

It is a risk to Love. What if it doesn’t work out?  Ah but what if it does.

Love Hearts

Remind yourself that it’s OK not to be perfect.

Always laugh when you can.  It’s cheap medicine.

I think we like to complicate things when it is really quite simple: Find what it it that makes you happy and who it is that makes you happy and your set. Promise.

In 20 years you will be more disappointed by what you didn’t do than by what you did.

A ship in a port is safe BUT that’s not what ships are built for.

Be so happy that when others look at you they become happy too.

Remember – Keep Smiling!

It makes people wonder what you’re up to!

Goat Edition Songs The Ultimate TOP 15

If you’re among the millions who have spent a significant portion of the past month watching videos of goats yelling like humans, you may have wondered: Why do goats yell like that? Are they distressed? Do they yell for any particular reason? Are they trying to tell us something?

We asked the goat experts. The first thing we learned is that the goat experts are not amused. “Maybe for some it is entertaining,” Dr. An Peischel of Tennesse State University told me. “I am a goat producer and don’t consider it entertainment at all.”

They were quick to point out that some of these “goats” are not, in fact, goats at all. “The individuals making the noises were not all goats,” wrote Dr. Peischel, “There are several sheep involved.”

Yelling, for goats, is not unusual. They will yell for all sorts of reasons. “Mother goats call for their young when they get separated,” explained goat specialist Dr. Daniel Waldron of Texas A&M, and “young kid goats also call for their mothers.” “Goats may also ‘yell’ when they expect to get fed,” continued Dr. Waldron. “If I feed one pen of goats, the second pen may start ‘yelling’ because they want to be fed right now.”

Dr. Jean-Marie Luginbuhl of North Carolina State, a specialist in meat goats, agreed. “In my experience with goats, it does not take much for them to scream bloody murder, as if you are torturing them, when simply handling them.”  Read More: http://www.slate.com

How to Train a Dog to Speak

Short, positive training sessions will serve best when you teach your dog to obey various commands. Some examples of commands are “sit,” “stay” and “speak.” The “speak” command teaches a dog to bark once or twice in response to your verbal cue. Training not only provides mental stimulation for your dog but gives you more control over his behavior. You can combine commands to teach more complicated tricks or tasks, such as “quiet” or “hush” for noisy dogs, after they first understand the command to speak. Use reward-based clicker-training techniques to train your dog to vocalize on your command.
STEP 1

Train your dog to associate the sound of a clicker to a reward, using a dog treat. In short, 5- to 10-minute sessions each day, click a training device and give your dog a treat. Wait a minute or so between each click and treat. Continue this training until your dog expects a reward after hearing a click.

STEP 2

Say the verbal cue, “speak,” then trigger your dog to bark by waving a favorite toy in front of the dog’s face but not allowing him to obtain it. Other ways to trigger your dog to bark is by knocking on a wall or door, or by withholding a treat from the dog. Once the dog barks, click the device and give your dog a treat.

STEP 3

Train your dog for five to 10 minutes with the clicker and treats each day until he responds to the verbal command to speak by giving you at least one bark without your having to provoke him to bark with anything other than the verbal “speak” command.

STEP 4

Teach your dog the “quiet” command to limit the amount of time your dog barks after being given the “speak” command. This further specifies the “speak” command to just a couple barks instead of constant barking for a longer amount of time. Give the dog the command to “speak” triggering him to bark, but don’t treat him. Say “quiet” and wait until he is quiet for a few seconds before clicking and treating him. Continue this training giving the commands “speak” and “quiet” during each training session.

RSPCA Our History
The first Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Australia was formed in Victoria in 1871. On July 4th a public meeting was arranged by the Society for the Promotion of Public Morality to discuss the carefree colonial attitude towards animals. The main concern of people who attended the public meeting was the ill treatment of horses.

Become a Volunteer
Are you passionate about animal welfare and want to make a difference by being involved?

Are you dedicated and willing to make a regular commitment to help animals – animals that have been displaced, abandoned and possibly neglected and abused?

If so, you may be just the person we are looking for to become an RSPCA NSW Volunteer.

Volunteers are an integral part of the RSPCA NSW team and play an active part in supporting our work to improve the welfare of animals and protect them from cruelty and neglect. Volunteering involves dedication, commitment and passion. It is a great way to meet new people and be directly involved in the animal welfare cause.

There are many volunteer roles available; some involving contact with animals, while others provide support without direct contact with animals. Opportunities exist to assist with animal care, administration, events, customer service and local community fundraising (roles available may differ between shelters and branches).

Talking Beaver – Welcome To Canada

Talking Beaver – Welcome To Canada

Talking Beaver - Welcome To Canada

The quest for religious and political freedom is often cited as the reasons Europeans colonized North America, but natural resources were another major draw. These included whales, vast schools of cod, and towering lodgepole pines used for ship’s masts. But the resource that lured explorers across the continent was ACTUALLY the beaver.

After the early European explorers realized that Canada was not the spice-rich Orient, the main mercantile attraction was the beaver, then a population numbering in the millions. In the late 1600s and early 1700s, the fashion of the day demanded fur top-hats, which needed beaver pelts. As these hats became more popular, the demand for the pelts grew. Explorers were dispatched deep into the North American wilderness to trap and trade for furs with local natives.

King Henry IV of France saw the fur trade as an opportunity to acquire much-needed revenue and to establish his North American empire. Both English and French fur traders were soon selling beaver pelts in Europe at 20 times their original purchase price.

The first North American coat of arms to depict a beaver was created by Sir William Alexander, who was granted title in 1621 to the area now known as Nova Scotia.
