This year, the entire world is shuffling to LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem.” So far, the unstoppable track from the Los Angeles-based duo has topped iTunes charts in seven countries, and spent weeks atop the English pop charts in April and May, when the duo kept artists such as Chris Brown and Jennifer Lopez from reaching the number one slot across the pond. As further testament to the global love for the song, the vibrant music video passed twenty million views on Vevo in under two months

And LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem” (featuring Lauren Bennett and GoonRock), is just the opening round of Redfoo and Sky Blu’s forthcoming full-length album, Sorry For Party Rocking (Party Rock/will.i.am/Cherry Tree/Interscope).

“Sorry for party rocking is a party person’s excuse for having fun,” explains Redfoo, LMFAO’s member known for his gravity-defying afro.

“It’s the excuse you give when someone complains,” he continues. “Let’s say your parents say ‘stop shuffling upstairs you’re waking me up!’ You can now just say ‘Sorry for party rocking, Mom…sorry for having fun.’”

Redfoo’s nephew, Sky Blu, echoes the sentiment, minus the apology. “We rock the party and lead by example,” says LMFAO’s lyrical wordsmith.

The duo is without question having fun in 2011, celebrating their successes by partying to the seriously infectious dance songs they have created, which prove as irresistible to radio as they do to DJs in clubs worldwide.

“We make all kinds of records, and we’re serious about what we do,” says Sky Blu.

Oliver Stanley “Olly” Murs (born May 14, 1984 in Essex, England) is an English singer-songwriter. He achieved second place on the sixth series of The X Factor in 2009. In early 2010, he was signed to Syco Music and Epic Records, who are owned by Sony Music. After he toured with X Factor Finalists tour, he began recording his debut album.

Murs’ debut single, “Please Don’t Let Me Go” charted at number one on the UK Singles Chart, after releasing it on 27 August, beating Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” to the #1 spot. Olly’s debut album followed his second official single “Thinking Of Me”, which charted at number four on the UK Singles Charts, and a week later Murs debut album, Olly Murs charted at number two on the UK Albums Chart.

Rapper Flo Rida is the Carol City native being dubbed the new ‘It’ man of Hip-Hop, and it’s easy to see why. With no prior studio record and relatively moderate promotion of his profile, the rapper gained respect through his debut single ‘Low’ feat. T-Pain. On Billboard Hot 100 chart, the song went from #91 in the first week to #64 before finally taking a big leap to #4. In its fourth week, the single held strong to the same position despite new competitors that kept turning up. Radio outlets gave heavy spins of the song and its digital download on iTunes rocketed to over 120,000 hits. Ringtone request meanwhile, was also constantly pouring in, nailing the song a third position on Billboard Hot RingMaster chart. With such attainment early in his career, there is no doubt that his name may be put in line with the kings of Hip-Hop someday. The Sony PS4 will hit shelves this year – Holiday 2013 – but the look of the device is still firmly under wraps, with no hardware being revealed at its launch event in New York beyond the new DualShock 4 controller and a stereo camera.

However, the Sony PS4 isn’t a total mystery – Sony was plenty forthcoming with features and specs for its next-gen gaming console. The Sony PS4 will pack in an X86 processor with eight CPU cores, an “enhanced PC GPU” and 8GB GDDR5 RAM.
What does that mean for gamers? Sony claims an “exponential leap over its predecessors” in terms of processing power, with the Sony PS4 able to suspend and resume gameplay simply by hitting the power button; the console will boot up immediately when you switch it on and restore your game state. The Sony PS4 will also be able to upload and download games in the background – even when the power button’s off – while you’ll be able to play downloaded games as soon as you purchase them, as the game files are downloading.

The Sony PS4 will also feature always on video compression and decompression – letting you seamlessly upload gameplay recordings. The idea, according to Sony, is to make sharing videos of gameplay as ubiquitous as screenshots are now. You’ll also be able to share live streams of ongoing games – more on that later.

The one piece of Sony PS4 hardware that Sony was willing to share was the DualShock 4 controller. Closely resembling the layout of the current PS3 controller, the DualShock 4 adds enhanced rumble capabilities, a Share button and touch pad along with a headphone jack and light bar. The latter lets the PS4’s stereo camera track and identify the controller in 3D – the console will also play nice with existing PlayStation Move controllers.

Few entertainers have attained the iconic status of Dwight Yoakam. Perhaps that is because so few have consistently and repeatedly met the high standard of excellence delivered by the Kentucky native no matter what his endeavor. His name immediately conjures up compelling, provocative images: A pale cowboy hat with the brim pulled low; poured-on blue jeans; intricate, catchy melodies paired with poignant, brilliant lyrics that mesmerize with their indelible imprint. Then there’s Yoakam the actor, who seemingly melts into his roles, impressively standing toe-to-toe with some of the world’s top thespians: Jodie Foster, Tommy Lee Jones, Forest Whitaker, Nicholas Cage. Add to that Yoakam the entrepreneur and you have a singular talent without peer.

Yoakam’s latest Warner Bros. album, 3 Pears, exemplifies his ability to incorporate multiple, competing influences into a piece of cohesive art. It balances his country core with a fiercely independent embrace of rock, Americana, pop and soul. It blends Yoakam’s respect for his musical predecessors with the collaborative assistance of modern singer/songwriter Beck, who co-produced two tracks, and current rocker Kid Rock, who co-wrote the hooky opener, “Take Hold Of My Hand.” But most importantly, 3 Pears builds on his trademark edginess with a notable, growing positivity.

“The music just kind of dropped in, in that way,” Yoakam reflects. “Music is a bit of a mystery. Like all emotions are. And I think maybe it was something I needed to express and to share with the world at large, something positive when all of us are kind of carrying around this collective, emotional weight.”

Much has been made that the Kentucky-born, Ohio-raised Yoakam was too country for Nashville when he first sought out his musical fortune in the mid-80s, but the truth is his music has always been too unique, too ruggedly individualistic to fit neatly into any one box. Like the icons he so admires –Elvis, Merle, Buck– Yoakam is one of a kind. He has taken his influences and filtered them into his own potent blend of country and rock that honors his musical predecessors and yet creates something beautifully new. As Vanity Fair declared, “Yoakam strides the divide between rock’s lust and country’s lament.”
