Jason Mamoa

Jason Momoa was born in Honolulu on August 1, 1979, and as a child moved to Norwalk, Iowa, where he was raised by his mother. After graduating from high school, Momoa moved back to Hawaii and enrolled at the University of Hawaii. But his life would soon take a fateful turn when he was discovered by Takeo, an international fashion designer—an event that led to the start of Momoa’s modeling career.

His good looks and carved physique brought him quick success, and in 1999, Momoa won Hawaii’s Model of the Year and walked the runway for Louis Vuitton at the Governor’s Fashion Show.

Momoa soon turned his sights to acting, and in 1999 he tried out for a lead role on the international smash TV show Baywatch (known at this point, the show’s 10th season, as Baywatch Hawaii). He beat out 1,000 other actors for the role of Jason Ioane, a part that he played for a couple of seasons. The show ended in 2001, and Momoa spent some time traveling the world, notably visiting Tibet, where he discovered Buddhism.

Momoa eventually moved to Los Angeles to further pursue an acting career. The first roles he landed, Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding (2003) and Tempted(2003), both TV movies, kept his face on the screen until his next series gig,North Shore, came along in 2004. North Shore ran for 20 episodes, but when it ended something even better was waiting for Momoa: Stargate: Atlantis.

Playing Ronan Dex on the popular sci-fi series, Momoa appeared in several seasons, reaching the next stage of stardom along the way. Also during this period, Momoa was involved in an altercation in a Los Angeles bar, in which another patron smashed a glass across the 6’5”, 225-lb. actor’s face, resulting in 140 stitches and a scar above his left eye. The scar would become something of a signature afterward, and it played well into Momoa’s next role, which would take his career to the next level.

In April 2011, HBO began airing a new drama, Game of Thrones, and Momoa appeared in the plumb role of Khal Drogo, a barbarian leader of a tribe called the Dothraki. The show became an instant smash hit, and Momoa’s violent and eventually nuanced Khal brought a whole new crop of fans to the actor’s doorstep.

Growing up, Momoa was a big fan of the Conan the Barbarian stories, and he also got to star as the title character in the Hollywood big-screen reboot, released a few months after Game of Thrones. Momoa has since appeared inBullet to the Head (2012) and Road to Paloma (2014; which Momoa also directed and co-wrote). He currently has several films in production as well, including Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. And Momoa has continued with television work, starring in the ensemble cast of the Sundance Channel drama The Red Road, which premiered in March 2014.

Moma married actress Lisa Bonet in 2007. The couple have two children together, daughter Lola Iolani Momoa and son Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa. Bonet has a daughter Zoë Isabella with former husband Lenny Kravitz.

RUN-DMC vs Jason Nevins – It’s Like That

RUN-DMC vs Jason Nevins – It’s Like That

RUN-DMC vs Jason Nevins - It's Like That

Darryl McDaniels or “DMC” as most of the world knows him, first made his start in the music business as one third of the ground breaking rap group Run-DMC and quickly became the most popular in terms of fans and influence. He has been in the public eye for the past 20 years, since forming the now legendary, defunct group, RUN-D.M.C with Joseph (Rev. Run) Simmons and the late, great Jason (Jam Master Jay) Mizell. Also one of the founding members of this multi-platinum music group, selling over 30 million singles and albums worldwide, it would be hard to overstate his influence on popular culture. He helped transform Rap and Hip Hop into the most popular music in the world, while building a fan base that rivals the biggest acts in Rock ‘n’ Roll.

As the first and greatest of Hip Hop’s superstars, Run-DMC succeeded beyond anyone’s wildest dreams – their own included – by embodying for the world endlessly creative subculture of young black New York. They were the first rappers to earn a gold album, the first to earn a platinum album, the first to go multi-platinum, the first to have their videos played on MTV, the first to appear on American Bandstand and Saturday Night Live, and the first rap band to grace the cover of Rolling Stone and Spin.

DMC has recently added another list of firsts to his life – his first book entitled “King of Rock: Respect, Responsibility and My Life with Run-DMC” (St. Martins). The book, written by DMC with Bruce Haring with the forward by rapper/actor Will Smith, offers a flavored tale of his rise within the music business while stressing the importance of respect and responsibility in today’s society. It has received rave reviews nationwide. Entertainment weekly called it “strangely compelling, bravely honest… plenty of entertaining anecdotes about life back in the day to keep you turning the pages. Like Will Smith, McDaniels is a born charmer.” Publisher’s Weekly says the book is “hard hitting yet sensitive… he (McDaniiels) argues astutely that ‘very few of the rappers will admit they’re creating a fictional character,’ and thereby create problems for themselves.”
In addition to the new book, DMC released his own musical project entitled Checks, Thugs, Rock-N-Roll.

Jason Mraz - I'm Yours

Jason Mraz, born on March 23, 1977 and raised in Mechanicsville, Virginia, was mostly influenced with such music genres as reggae, pop, rock, jazz, folk and hip-hop. Having a strong interest in music, he attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy but dropped out a year later when he decided to pick up guitar at the age of 18 and started exploring his singing talent at strawberry fields and on the streets of Manhattan.

After busking around the Big Apple, Jason moved to San Diego. There, he landed a singing career with a duo with drummer Noel “Toca” Rivera. Along with Toca, he performed at the coffeehouses around the town before getting signed to Elektra Records.

In 2002, Jason releases his major-label debut studio album called “Waiting for My Rocket to Come” via Elektra Records. Exploring his songwriting talent by sinking into penning almost all the songs in the album, he brought in pop rock, rock and rock alternative music as his genres. Listing such singles as “The Remedy (I Don’t Worry)”, “Both You and I” and “Curbside Prophet” among others, he lands the album at number two on Billboard Heatseekers chart.
